Shark Sandwich was formed in 1993 as an offshoot to our original music band, "Bleufood." We were the winners of the Live 105 Best Unsigned Band in San Francisco contest in 1993 and released a blue vinyl LP on the Continuum label.
Shark Sandwich has kept going, and has been a hit in the clubs around S.F and the Bay Area. The band has always played Top 40 Dance, Rock and Funk, but we started to be known for our outrageous and fun covers of TV hits like The Partridge Family & Brady Bunch themes - and when requested, songs that most bands won’t dare tackle like The Beatles,
"I Am The Walrus" and
Led Zeppelin’s, "Kashmir".
Our reputation precedes us wherever we go. In Maui we were invited to play at ‘Moose McGillycuddy’s’ and also to accompany the S.F. 49ers through the islands as they played celebrity tournaments for charity.
We love playing Weddings and Corporate parties as well (check out who we’ve played for!) and we added a female vocalist, Christine Zamora, which gave us a whole new sound, look and more extensive song list. We started adding surf instrumentals, Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, etc. when we began to play regularly at ‘Adventures by The Sea’ in Monterey last year. The ‘beach theme’ has really been a hit and we have been invited for numerous events featuring Shark Sandwich playing the surf classics.
Shark Sandwich is the ultimate band for any party. With audience participation and veteran musicians at the helm, and a huge song list spanning decades our clients can be assured of a successful event!
